Heads Up!

fiber internet is coming

During construction:
In order to connect your neighborhood to our network, our construction crews will bury small plastic boxes to be joined by conduit. The boxes and the conduit will house the fiber. To minimize any impact to your landscaping, we’ll use a technique called “boring” to run the conduit along the edge of the street—approximately two feet underground. We don’t expect any disruption to the surface, but please notify us immediately if you believe we have caused serious damage to your property, and we’ll send out a representative to remedy the situation. Prior to boring, the local utility companies will mark their lines with paint and/or flags to ensure nothing is damaged during construction. Please do not disturb these markers until construction is complete. Finally, our crews will come back to push fiber optic cables through the conduit.

During construction:
Some neighborhoods will be receiving fiber internet through an aerial connection. Stupp Fiber has been granted a franchise agreement with the City of Bowling Green to use its rights-of-way and utility poles to bring fiber internet through overhead cables. Our crews will install fiber lines on the utility poles and if you have a telephone pole in your yard, crews will enter several times to complete the work. First, our crews will mount hardware onto the pole. Second, they will return to install the fiber.

During the drop appointment: Our crews will make a tiny trench and pull the fiber from the mainline to your home. In most cases, the path is barely noticeable. They will determine the best place to install a gray box called a Network Interface Device (NID) outside of your home. You’ll see our friendly crew, working outside to prep your home for installation, and we’ll let you know when it’s complete. You do not need to be present for this step.

During the drop appointment:
Our crews will pull fiber from the nearest utility pole to the exterior of your house. Once the drop is complete, we’ll email you to schedule your installation appointment. At that time, a Stupp Fiber technician will pull the fiber through the NID into your home and install the ONT/router combo inside your home.

After that, we’ll get you signed into the Stupp Fiber IQ app to manage your Wi-Fi network and share helpful information about your new fiber service.

Do you have a sprinkler system or underground wire pet fence?
Please contact us in advance to ensure there’s no disruption, as the utility’s detection tools cannot identify these items.
